October 4, 2017 – Today, Leonardo Helicopters announced the sale an additional two AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopters to customers in the UK for Corporate/VIP passenger transport. This strengthens Leonardo Helicopters in the twin-engine market segment in this region, where Leonardo already owns a staggering 50% share of the multi-engine market with over 30 AW139’s currently operating in the UK.
One of the new aircraft will be managed and operated by Fairoaks Airport-based Starspeed which is a subsidiary of Luxavation Helicopters, the world’s largest operator of VIP and VVIP helicopters. Starspeed, who already operates the AW169, part of the unique AW Family of helicopters the includes the AW139 and the AW189.
The second aircraft will be utilized by an undisclosed UK-based customer for corporate transport. Both aircraft have a slated delivery date in the first-half of 2018.

The AW139 is noted for its performance among other intermediate twin-engine helicopters in terms of performance, has a cruise speed of 165 knots, and is known for its safety and comfort. The AW 139 also boasts the largest unobstructed cabin in its class, which complements it’s VIP and VVIP configurations nicely.
