Following the announcement of the associations name change on Friday August 11th from ALEA to APSA that will take effect January 1, 2018, ALEA announced today that the widely recognized annual convention held by ALEA and known by the same name will now be known as APSCON. The change in conference name was also announced at the unveiling of the association’s new name, the Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA.) The former ALEA annual convention, known as the premier annual training and networking event for the organization. “We have been contemplating a new, more dynamic name that wasn’t a knock-off from another show for quite some time, and APSCON fits the bill,” stated Dan Schwarzbach, CEO and Executive Director of ALEA. “while we won’t start doing business as APSA until January 1, 2018, we will start using APSCON right away.” The first APSCON conference under the new moniker is scheduled to take place in Louisville, Kentucky next July and the Kentucky Exposition Center outside of downtown Louisville that also hosted the 2016 HAI Heli-Expo event.
“I liked the sound of it the first time I heard it,” stated ALEA President Steve Roussell. “It’s a strong name that easily rolls off the tongue. I look forward to seeing everyone at APSCON 2018 in Louisville, Kentucky,” he added.
